Our Story
Like any good rags-to-riches story, The Leather Maker started small. As a small seller on eBay, with a handful of leather jacket listings and a simple aim: offer real leather to people who care about the details. As more customers found us we moved to Etsy, where we found our audience, and then to Amazon, the first milestone that put our jackets in homes across the country. Each step taught us something about fit and finish and what customers actually want. With that behind us we built our own website and put a brand around those lessons. The Leather Maker is registered under Iri Textile Corporation, in Albertson, New York.
Reviving a Craft
We believe that if you are going to spend your time doing something, do it right the first time. That is why the jackets are made in Pakistan, a country with a long leather trade and the hands to go with it. We work directly with the people who cut and stitch them, using methods passed down and sharpened over generations. The hides are sheepskin, lambskin, cowhide, goatskin suede and shearling, and every product page names the one that jacket uses. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting: a jacket is cut once the order is placed, and that is a large part of why the price is where it is.
Handmade with the Heart Equally Involved
Each jacket is cut, stitched, and finished by hand. We choose every zipper, button, and thread with intention, because for us details matter as much as leather. Our team is small, but every member carries the same pride: to make something that outlives its wearer.
We don’t chase trends or seasonal collections. We believe a good leather jacket is timeless, something that becomes part of your story. The scuffs, the folds, the patina, each inch retelling your legacy, your life and for us that’s beauty.
