Returns
- Returns, exchanges and refund requests within 30 days of delivery. Email info@theleathermaker.com with your order number to start one.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method.
- The jacket must be unworn, with the original tags attached and in its original packaging.
- Return shipping is paid by the customer, unless the jacket arrived damaged or faulty.
- Made-to-measure and personalized jackets can't be returned unless they arrive damaged or faulty.
Care Details
Wipe the leather with a damp cloth and let it dry at room temperature, never on a radiator. If the collar or cuffs mat, run a soft brush through them. Air it out instead of washing it.
Size & Fit
There's room through the body for a shirt and a sweater. Pick a men's or women's cut, then go with your normal size. Shearling fills more of that room than the thin lining of a plain leather jacket for men, so anyone between two sizes should take the larger one. Made to Measure costs nothing extra if you'd rather send your own figures. The size guide has chest and sleeve numbers.
The US Navy gave the M-445A to its aircrews during World War II, and this men’s brown shearling flight jacket keeps to that pattern. The shell is dark brown sheepskin with the wool left on the inside, and a big cream shearling collar spreads across the shoulders. Turned up, it covers the back of your neck.
Two patch pockets with pointed, buttoned flaps sit low on the front. At the bottom of the zip, a tab with two buttons closes the waistband, and a small buckle at each side of the hem takes the waist in. The cuffs are finished in shearling. Buttons do most of the work here, where other men’s shearling jackets use straps and buckles.
The sheepskin
In a leather and shearling jacket built this way, the shell and the lining are one skin: the leather side out, the wool side in, which is warmer than a lining sewn in on its own. The dark brown surface has a natural grain and a soft sheen, and it creases at the elbows and pocket flaps as you wear it.
