Every number below is the jacket itself, measured flat on a table, not your body. The chest and waist figures cover half the jacket, so double them for the measurement all the way around. Each jacket is cut and sewn after you order, to the size on your order.

How to measure a jacket you already own
- Chest, flat: zip the jacket, lay it flat, and measure straight across from armpit to armpit.
- Shoulder: measure across the back, from one shoulder seam to the other.
- Sleeve length: measure from the shoulder seam down to the end of the cuff.
- Waist, flat: with the jacket zipped and flat, measure straight across at the narrowest point between the armpit and the hem.
- Back length: measure from the base of the collar down to the hem.
If nothing on the chart fits, made to measure is free. The eight body measurements we need are on the product page, just above the Add to cart button. A jacket cut to your measurements cannot be returned unless it arrives damaged or faulty, so check each figure first.

- Import duties or local taxes, where a country charges them, are paid by the customer.
Returns
- Returns, exchanges and refund requests within 30 days of delivery. Email info@theleathermaker.com with your order number to start one.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method.
- The jacket must be unworn, with the original tags attached and in its original packaging.
- Return shipping is paid by the customer, unless the jacket arrived damaged or faulty.
- Made-to-measure and personalized jackets can't be returned unless they arrive damaged or faulty.
Care Details
Suede marks easily, so spray it with a suede protector before the first wear and brush it now and then to lift the nap. Keep it out of heavy rain and spot-clean the cream trim. It isn't machine washable.
Size & Fit
Short and a little boxy, with enough room for a turtleneck or a thin sweater. Your regular size should be right, and you only need to size up for chunky knits. The waist-length hem looks right with high-rise jeans. If you're between sizes, pick Made to Measure and send your own chest and sleeve figures; it costs nothing, and it's how we cut the rest of our women's custom leather jackets. Chelsea wears a cropped brown suede aviator jacket in season 4 of In the Dark, and this is our women’s version of it. The wide notched lapels are cream faux shearling, and the zip runs off-center, biker-style, from the lapel down to a thick band at the hem. It stops right at the waist.
Narrow cream piping outlines the seams: across the shoulders, down the back, along the sleeves and in a ring around each forearm. There’s a vertical zipped pocket on each side of the front, and the cuffs turn back in the same cream pile as the collar. We list it under women’s shearling leather jackets, though the pile on this one is faux.
The suede
Suede is leather with a brushed, velvety nap and a matte finish, which gives this jacket its soft, dusty brown color. It’s supple from the first day, with no stiffness to break in. Over time the nap flattens a little at the elbows and cuffs and the brown deepens in those spots, which is simply how suede ages.
