How to measure a jacket you already own

  • Chest, flat: zip the jacket, lay it flat, and measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other.
  • Shoulders: measure across the back, from the top of one shoulder seam to the top of the other.
  • Sleeve Length: measure from the shoulder seam, along the outside of the sleeve, to the end of the cuff.
  • Waist, flat: keep the jacket zipped and flat, and measure straight across at the narrowest point below the chest.
  • Back Length: measure down the back, from the base of the collar to the hem.

If nothing here fits, made to measure is free. The eight measurements sit on the product page, just above the Add to cart button. A jacket cut to your own measurements can't be returned for fit, so check your figures before you order.

Description

Most of what you see on this men's WWII sheepskin flying jacket is wool. Ginger fleece frames the front edges, the wide collar, the cuffs and the hem, with dark brown lambskin in the middle. It is styled as an air force pilot jacket from the Second World War.

Drum-dyed lambskin outside, wool inside

The shell is full-grain lambskin in dark brown, drum-dyed, which means the color goes through the skin. The face is smooth with a slight shine. Inside is thick wool shearling, ginger colored, and seams are double-stitched. The wool is dense and stands proud of the leather along the front. As a leather shearling flight jacket it carries real weight, and it is one of the men's shearling jackets that suits cold, windy days.

Collar, strap and half belt

The collar is wide and folds down over the shoulders. A leather throat strap hangs from one side to close it at the neck. The front closes with a YKK zipper, and a slanted pocket is set into each side. Hold the front open and an inside pocket shows against the wool. A half belt with buckles pulls the hem in at the sides, and the cuffs are wool lined. Browse more aviator jackets for men like it.

Sizing the men's WWII sheepskin flying jacket

The cut is roomy through the body and sleeves, as the originals were, so most people should order their usual size.
