How to measure a jacket you already own
- Chest, flat: zip the jacket, lay it flat, and measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other.
- Shoulders: measure across the back, from the top of one shoulder seam to the top of the other.
- Sleeve Length: measure from the shoulder seam, along the outside of the sleeve, to the end of the cuff.
- Waist, flat: keep the jacket zipped and flat, and measure straight across at the narrowest point below the chest.
- Back Length: measure down the back, from the base of the collar to the hem.

- Each jacket is made to order. It takes 5–7 days to make and check, then 6–7 days in transit with DHL, FedEx or SkyNet. Most orders arrive within 11–14 days.
- You'll get tracking details once your order ships.
- Import duties or local taxes, where a country charges them, are paid by the customer.
Returns
- Returns, exchanges and refund requests within 30 days of delivery. Email info@theleathermaker.com with your order number to start one.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method.
- The jacket must be unworn, with the original tags attached and in its original packaging.
- Return shipping is paid by the customer, unless the jacket arrived damaged or faulty.
- Made-to-measure and personalized jackets can't be returned unless they arrive damaged or faulty.
Care Details
Wipe it with a damp cloth and let it dry at room temperature, away from radiators. Condition the leather once a year. Hang it on a wide hanger, and don't squash it into a vacuum bag, or the fill will flatten. Don't machine wash it.
Size & Fit
Relaxed through the body and sleeves, with room for a hoodie or a sweater. Take your usual size. If you'll only wear it over a T-shirt and want it closer, you can go down one. Made to measure costs nothing extra, so send your own chest and sleeve numbers if you'd rather have one of our custom made leather jackets. The size guide lists chest and sleeve measurements.
This men’s black leather puffer jacket swaps the usual nylon shell for sheepskin. It’s quilted in wide horizontal channels filled with polyester, so it keeps you warm without the weight of a shearling coat. The collar stands high and, zipped to the top, covers most of your neck.
A flatter yoke panel runs across the shoulders, front and back, so the top half doesn’t look too bulky. Two upright zipped pockets sit low on the front, the cuffs are gathered on elastic to keep drafts out, and the hem ends at the hip. A hoodie or a thick sweater fits underneath, so it wears as a winter coat rather than as a light men’s quilted leather jacket. It sits with the rest of our leather puffer jackets.
The leather
The sheepskin has a light pebble grain and a soft sheen. It’s thinner and more flexible than cowhide, which matters on a puffer, because the leather has to bend around every padded channel. It’s lighter than the cowhide used on a lot of leather jackets for men, so the fill does the warming. Over the first winter it softens further, and the creases settle along the quilting lines.
