Returns
- Returns, exchanges and refund requests within 30 days of delivery. Email info@theleathermaker.com with your order number to start one.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method.
- The jacket must be unworn, with the original tags attached and in its original packaging.
- Return shipping is paid by the customer, unless the jacket arrived damaged or faulty.
- Made-to-measure and personalized jackets can't be returned unless they arrive damaged or faulty.
Care Details
Brush the shearling now and then to keep it from matting, and wipe the outside with a dry or barely damp cloth. Let it air out after wear instead of washing it, and keep it away from direct heat. No machine washing.
Size & Fit
There's room through the body and arms for a thick knit under the shearling. Take your usual size, and use the buckle straps at the hem to pull in any extra at the waist. The size guide on this page has chest and sleeve measurements for both cuts. If your shoulders or arms sit outside the chart, Made to Measure costs nothing: we cut custom made leather jackets to the numbers you send.
The RAF flight jacket, made here as a brown shearling leather jacket in distressed sheepskin, with thick ginger fleece at the collar, cuffs and hem. Pale tan leather tape runs over the main seams front and back, crossing in a grid on the back and picking out the panels against the darker, mottled leather.
The big collar turns up and fastens with tan leather throat straps, closing it around the neck in cold wind. Below it are a zip front, two hand pockets and a buckle strap at each side of the hem to cinch the waist. The shearling cuffs are turned back over the sleeves. It’s one of the heaviest of our men’s shearling jackets, and you choose a men’s or women’s cut when you order.
The sheepskin
The outside is finished to look old: mottled brown, darker in patches, with a slightly crackled surface across the back. Inside, the fleece is dense and warm, the same wool you see at the collar and cuffs. A leather shearling jacket this thick is meant for real winter rather than a cool fall evening.
