How to measure a jacket you already own
- Chest, flat: zip the jacket, lay it flat, and measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other.
- Shoulders: measure across the back, from the top of one shoulder seam to the top of the other.
- Sleeve Length: measure from the shoulder seam, along the outside of the sleeve, to the end of the cuff.
- Waist, flat: keep the jacket zipped and flat, and measure straight across at the narrowest point below the chest.
- Back Length: measure down the back, from the base of the collar to the hem.

Description
US Army Air Forces pilots wore the A-2 flight jacket through World War II, and the pattern has hardly changed since. Most men's leather bomber jackets built on it are brown. This one is black cowhide, which reads as a casual bomber rather than a uniform and goes with dark jeans or gray pants.
Everything else is what an A-2 should have. The pointed shirt collar has snaps under its points, the zip hides under a storm flap, there are epaulettes on the shoulders and two patch pockets with snap flaps. The waistband and cuffs are black knit, so the jacket sits close at the wrist and waist and the body blouses slightly above it. It's the plainest of our men's bomber jackets, and the closest to the original.
The leather
Cowhide has always been the leather for an A-2 because it's tough and keeps the wind out. It starts out firm and takes a few weeks of wear to soften. After that it creases at the elbows and around the pockets, and the black takes on a slight shine where it rubs.
Fit and sizing
Cut short, to sit at the belt, and straight through the body. The knit waistband holds it at the hips, so there's no need to size up for length. Take your usual size, or go one up if you'll wear it over a thick sweater. Exact numbers are in the size guide. Care
Wipe the leather with a damp cloth and let it dry away from direct heat. Condition it once or twice a year. Pick lint off the knit trims by hand, and use a wide hanger so the shoulders hold their shape.

- Each jacket is made to order. It takes 5–7 days to make and check, then 6–7 days in transit with DHL, FedEx or SkyNet. Most orders arrive within 11–14 days.

- Import duties or local taxes, where a country charges them, are paid by the customer.
Returns
- Returns, exchanges and refund requests within 30 days of delivery. Email info@theleathermaker.com with your order number to start one.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method.
- The jacket must be unworn, with the original tags attached and in its original packaging.
- Return shipping is paid by the customer, unless the jacket arrived damaged or faulty.
- Made-to-measure and personalized jackets can't be returned unless they arrive damaged or faulty.
