Men's Size Guide

Every figure below is the jacket itself, measured flat, not your body. Double the flat chest and flat waist to get the measurement all the way around, or read the doubled figures from the rows marked around. All figures are in inches. Each jacket is cut to the size on your order.

How to measure a jacket you already own

  • Chest, flat: zip the jacket, lay it flat, and measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other.
  • Shoulders: measure across the back, from the top of one shoulder seam to the top of the other.
  • Sleeve Length: measure from the shoulder seam, along the outside of the sleeve, to the end of the cuff.
  • Waist, flat: keep the jacket zipped and flat, and measure straight across at the narrowest point below the chest.
  • Back Length: measure down the back, from the base of the collar to the hem.

If nothing here fits, made to measure is free. The eight measurements sit on the product page, just above the Add to cart button. A jacket cut to your own measurements can't be returned for fit, so check your figures before you order.

Description

Cognac is a warm, reddish brown, and on this men's A-2 bomber jacket the finish is uneven on purpose: darker along the seams and edges, lighter where the leather catches the light. It looks less like a new jacket and more like one that's been flown in for a few seasons.

The A-2 pattern goes back to the US Army Air Corps in the 1930s, and this version sticks closely to it. There's a pointed shirt collar with snaps under the points, a storm flap over the zip that runs down into the waistband, epaulettes, and two patch pockets with pointed flaps. The black knit cuffs and waistband keep drafts out and make it a casual bomber rather than a costume. It's the brown counterpart to the black A-2 in our men's leather bomber jackets.

The leather

Cowhide is the heaviest option on a leather jacket for men, and it takes longer to break in than lambskin or goatskin. In return, it keeps its shape for years. The cognac shade varies from panel to panel and deepens at the elbows, shoulders and cuffs with wear. Small differences in grain and tone between jackets are normal for real hide.

Fit and sizing

Trim through the chest with room in the shoulders to move, true to the original military cut. This one runs about a size larger than standard US sizing, so match your chest measurement to the size guide rather than picking your usual letter. Between two sizes, take the larger one, or send us your own numbers and have it made to measure at no extra charge.

Care

Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth. If it's caught in the rain, let it dry at room temperature, away from radiators. Condition it every six months, and use a wide hanger so the shoulders don't dent.
