How to measure a jacket you already own
- Chest, flat: zip the jacket, lay it flat, and measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other.
- Shoulders: measure across the back, from the top of one shoulder seam to the top of the other.
- Sleeve Length: measure from the shoulder seam, along the outside of the sleeve, to the end of the cuff.
- Waist, flat: keep the jacket zipped and flat, and measure straight across at the narrowest point below the chest.
- Back Length: measure down the back, from the base of the collar to the hem.

- Import duties or local taxes, where a country charges them, are paid by the customer.
Returns
- Returns, exchanges and refund requests within 30 days of delivery. Email info@theleathermaker.com with your order number to start one.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method.
- The jacket must be unworn, with the original tags attached and in its original packaging.
- Return shipping is paid by the customer, unless the jacket arrived damaged or faulty.
- Made-to-measure and personalized jackets can't be returned unless they arrive damaged or faulty.
Care Details
Brush the suede with a soft suede brush to lift the nap, and use a suede eraser on marks. Keep it out of heavy rain, let it dry slowly if it does get wet, and take it to a leather cleaner rather than washing it.
Size & Fit
A regular fit. The fleece takes up some room inside, so there's space for a shirt or a fine knit but not a thick sweater. Take your usual size, or go up one to layer more, and choose the men's or women's cut at checkout. The size guide on this page has measurements for both. Made to Measure costs nothing extra if you'd rather send your own numbers than pick from the chart.
Burgundy sheepskin, worn suede side out with the cream shearling inside. The fleece shows at the wide notched lapels and lines the body, so the warmth comes from the skin itself rather than from a separate padded layer. Most of what gets sold as a leather and shearling jacket is two materials stitched together; this is one hide with the wool still on it.
The cut is closer to a biker’s than an aviator’s: an asymmetric zip, two upright zipped pockets at the hips, and a hem band that closes with a two-snap tab. Burgundy also makes a change from the brown and black you usually see in men’s shearling jackets. You can order it in a men’s or women’s cut.
The sheepskin
A shearling leather jacket like this one is warm for its weight and breathes better than anything with a synthetic lining, because the wool is attached to the skin instead of sewn in. The burgundy suede has a soft nap and darker shading across the shoulders and sleeves, which it keeps as it wears.
