Every figure below is the jacket itself, measured flat, not your body. Double the flat chest and flat waist to get the measurement all the way around, or read the doubled figures from the rows marked around. All figures are in inches. Each jacket is cut to the size on your order.

How to measure a jacket you already own

  • Chest, flat: zip the jacket, lay it flat, and measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other.
  • Shoulders: measure across the back, from the top of one shoulder seam to the top of the other.
  • Sleeve Length: measure from the shoulder seam, along the outside of the sleeve, to the end of the cuff.
  • Waist, flat: keep the jacket zipped and flat, and measure straight across at the narrowest point below the chest.
  • Back Length: measure down the back, from the base of the collar to the hem.

If nothing here fits, made to measure is free. The eight measurements sit on the product page, just above the Add to cart button. A jacket cut to your own measurements can't be returned for fit, so check your figures before you order.

Description

This is based on the jacket Tom Cruise wears as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. It's a black leather jacket for men cut close to the body, with a crinkled, glossy surface that catches the light, as you can see in the stills. There are no chest pockets, belts or extra panels on the front.

A low stand collar with a snap tab sits above a straight zip. Both side pockets zip shut, and so do the cuffs, so you can open them to push the sleeves up or close them snug at the wrist. For the Mission Impossible look, wear it the way he does, over a dark crewneck or a quarter-zip knit with dark jeans. It's the plainest of the film pieces we keep with our cafe racer leather jackets for men.

The leather

The leather has a crinkled texture with a high shine, rather than a smooth, flat surface. Creases are part of the look from the start, so the new ones that come with wear just blend in. It's soft and fairly light, which is not true of every black leather jacket cut this close.

Fit and sizing

Slim, sitting close through the chest and arms like the jacket in the film. Take your usual size over a T-shirt or a thin knit, and go up one for a thicker sweater or if you're between sizes. Slim cuts leave the least room for error, so check the chest and sleeve measurements in the size guide, or send your own and we'll cut it to them at no extra cost, the way we do our tailored leather jackets.

Care

Dust it off with a soft dry cloth, and use a slightly damp one when it needs more. Condition it lightly once or twice a year. Hang it on a wide hanger, away from direct heat, and keep it out of the washer.
